Setting Up
When you first open the Catapult Vector app you will immediately be walked through the setup of your dock. This will involve you connecting your mobile device to the dock via Bluetooth, followed by a 3-step process to get your dock connected to WiFi and linked with your OpenField cloud account.
Following the setup of your dock, you will be able to map (assign) your Vector devices to your athletes. This is done through the device page found in the bottom right of the Catapult Vector app - indicated by the Vector device icon.
This process of mapping devices to athletes is important as it applies the athletes bands (set in the cloud) to the device. Once your dock is set up and your units are mapped to athletes you will be ready to use your Vector Core system.
Capture Live
Device setup and live capture are all completed from the same app. The experience is similar to PlayerTek, when considering the connectivity of units via Bluetooth. The same range will exist as PT (~50m from the devices) and summary data will be provided for 11 live metrics that exist within the system (listed below).
In Vector Core you will have the ability to create thresholds (or targets) which athletes are expected to achieve. The bar charts within the Vector app will then change colour as athletes approach and then exceed these targets. You will also have the flexibility of creating concurrent periods, assigning athletes to periods and renaming periods all from the Vector app.
Post Download Workflow
In Vector Core, users have the ability to create splits post-session after download, or edit existing activities created live via the Catapult Vector app. Athletes can be added to all or standalone periods by simply dragging and dropping into the newly created periods. Tagging is new to Vector Core and allows users to tag sessions, for example ‘match day’ which provides the ability to filter sessions in the reporting tool and is also used for benchmarks within reporting. Further, athlete participation tags are also available which enables users to specify if a player has partially completed a session and therefore exclude their data from normative values used in reporting. Changing the mapping of devices in a particular session is very easy in the Vector Core software. Simply select the player you want to change from the Athletes in Activity section and click the 'unmap' button. An unassigned device will then appear, which can be mapped against any athlete that exists in your account.
Reporting
Reporting has been significantly improved within Vector Core software. The biggest difference is ease of use and the flexibility to compare to many different day tags for quick reference. Volume and intensity metrics are calculated from the 3 metrics listed below these scores. This is similar to the 'Session Score' but is transparent in what the calculation is. Instead of showing what the volume and intensity of each parameter is, it is limited to these main 3 metrics to keep it concise. You can then view more metrics in bar chart format in the athlete section, which is similar to the PlayerTek reporting. You will be able to see these volume and intensity breakdowns for periods also so that you can compare drill intensity to match intensity when needed.
