Data Sharing lets you securely send activity data between Catapult accounts. Use it to collaborate with sport science partners, parent clubs, or affiliated programmes. If you haven't already you will need to create a connection with the account you want to share to. For details see How to Set up an Initial Connection to Share Data to Another Account.
Creating a share
Once two accounts are connected, you can create a share to send activity data.
Step 1: Configure the share
- Go to Settings > Share Centre and click Create share.
- Select the account and the athletes you want to include.
- Set the date range. The default is the last two weeks. Overlapping shares are flagged automatically. You can share up to a maximum of 6 weeks which can include activities which have already taken place or dates into the future to automatically share future activities.
- Review the metadata being sent. Click the edit icon to redact or enable Period names or Activity names.
- Click Review.
Note:
- 100Hz raw file data, athlete names, flagged regions, periods, and rotations are always included.
- Period names and activity names can be redacted by the sender.
- Annotations and Tags cannot be shared.
Step 2: Review raw files
If any selected athletes are missing raw files, you'll see a warning at this step.
- Review the list of athletes with missing data.
- If there are athletes with no raw files or activities for the date range selected they will be automatically excluded from the share.
- Select athletes and click Remove to exclude any with only partial data from the share, or click Back to return to Step 1 and adjust your selection.
- To fix missing raw file errors complete a cloud archive within the OpenField Console to sync raw files to the cloud. Once synced use the Refresh button to re-check for raw files.
- Click Review when ready.
Step 3: Send the share
- Confirm the athletes, time range and metadata in the read-only summary.
- Click Send.
- The share now appears under the Sending tab in Share Centre.
Important:
Once a share agreement has been setup and the receiver has imported the data into their account there is no way to undo. Please ensure you double check all the details within the page prior to selecting Send.
Receiving shared data
When another account shares data with you, it appears in the Receiving tab of Share Centre with a New tag.
Importing a share
- Navigate to Settings > Share Centre. The Receiving tab is selected by default.
- Find the new share and click Review.
- Step 1 - Map athletes: match the sender's athletes to athletes in your account. If the athlete is new to your account then you can create a new athlete directly with the profile of the senders account.
- Step 2 - Review maxes: this shows the profile max of the senders account to allow you to update athletes maxes prior to import. Select any you want to update.
- Step 3 - Import settings: confirm the import settings and select Accept & import.
Note:
All imported activities will be tagged with system tags "Imported" as well as the reference name of the account it was imported from. This can be used to filter activities within your reports to review this data.
Importing new data
Following the initial import you have the option to check for new data to either import newly uploaded raw data from missing activities or when senders are providing future data to import the latest information.
- Navigate to Settings > Share Centre. The Receiving tab is selected by default.
- Find the share and click Check for new data.
- If there is new data the option to Import will be available.
Other actions on a received share
From within the … (more options) on any row of a received share you can:
- View activities - open the imported activities once a share has been accepted.
- View details - see the metadata, athletes and time range of the share.
- Use as template - create a new outbound share pre-populated with the same athletes and date range.
- Decline - refuse the share.
